Sue Stockdale, Business Coach

Sue Stockdale is a highly experienced Business Coach, facilitator and consultant. She works with clients across a wide range of industry sectors, typically at senior management or board level. Her career prior to full time coaching has ranged from corporate training and development in a UK Utility to quality improvement at the United Nations. She has also started up, grown and sold a business and therefore understands the challenges that corporate leaders and entrepreneurs can experience.

Sue is an accomplished people development specialist and her high level of repeat business comes from her ability to inspire, inform and motivate – which leads clients to focus on what’s possible, and then take action to change. She has an intuitive and engaging style and builds rapport quickly. Then, using a combination of business models and psychological insight, Sue helps clients achieve transformational change by addressing unconscious patterns of behaviour or beliefs that stop them achieving their goals.

She has extensive experience supporting business owners to achieve growth and facilitating group mentoring programmes including University of Bath’s programme for micro businesses. She also has extensive experience in supporting female entrepreneurs and is highly respected in this sector.

She has a raft of experience of coaching executives within corporates and supporting managers in senior positions through to board members of large corporations (£700m+ turnover) across a wide range of areas including 1-to-1 coaching, change management, career development and team and leadership development. Sue has had particular experience working with professional services firms and, in addition to delivering 1-to-1 coaching, has run coaching skills programmes for senior managers in firms such as Deloitte, Ernst & Young and Fujitsu.

Sue has also worked extensively within the Public Sector including Academic Institutions, Business Link, Local Government Association, Central Office for information, Government Office for East Midlands, The Highways Agency, Cheshire Partnership and the Isle of Man Government.

Sue has a large presence in the Healthcare sector having worked extensively with a large range of clients including BUPA Hospitals, Southend NHS Trust, Charing Cross Hospital NHS Trust, Nottingham City Hospital and Trumpington Street Medical Practice.

Sue is also a coach Supervisor and has been formally delivering supervision for over three years.

Sue’s academic achievements include an MBA in Entrepreneurship and an MSc in Quality Management. Sue is a member of the International Coach Federation, is a certified NLP Practitioner, is MBTI accredited and has a range of other coaching qualifications.

In addition to her business credentials, Sue is also the first British Woman to walk to the Magnetic North Pole and has participated in many polar expeditions. As an athlete, Sue represented Scotland in 3000m and cross-country events. She finished runner-up in Channel 4’s Superhuman and is author of Kickstart Your Motivation and Secrets of Successful Women Entrepreneurs. To keep her fit and healthy, Sue loves taking her two dogs on adventures in the countryside.

Corporate and Senior Executives:

"Your coaching has made a tangible difference to me and the way I deal with my team. The consequences being an improvement in morale and the relationships I have with them." Chris Duchezeau, Relationship Director, Leading UK Bank

“Sue made me think of "politics" in a positive way and demonstrated that actually it does not have to be such a negative thing to avoid but instead is the reality of today's corporate life and if one wanted to be successful in an organisation, it is something to reckon with”. Senior Manager, UBS

“I have found our coaching sessions very positive and here are the three main points I want to stress: First, it helped me to stay focused on what I wanted to achieve but open to other paths/directions in my career at the same time. Second, I liked the fact that Sue was intuitive and could pick things easily about my strategy or way of thinking and address issues I couldn't see, but without always using logic. Finally, Sue’s approach to coaching was different - I can't actually define it but it is proactive but realistic, down to the earth but also believe the impossible! Overall a very good strategy.” Director of a career coaching company

"The process has helped me drive my focus and intentionality to make a real noticeable, difference." Brian Condie, The Wrigley Company

"Sue has a clear understanding of the role of the coach to help the individual find the solution to their issue. She demonstrates a commitment to help the individual succeed but without becoming embroiled in the specifics. Maintaining her objective view point and offering a technique has allowed me to solve my own issues and understand myself and my environment better." Carole Thelwall-Jones, CB Volunteer Manager, Rugby Football Union

Public Sector Organisations:

"Coaching helped me make time to move key issues forward and I found the questioning useful." Mike Hewitt, Government Office

"I found my sessions with Sue to be insightful and inspirational, allowing me to reflect on aspects of my commitment and professional attitudes/values that required to be revisited in order to galvanise a higher level of motivation to my work." Professor Sarah Chaplin, Head of School, Architecture and Landscape, Kingston University

"Sue is a very good coach with the ability to provide insight and objectivity." Catherine Harries, Business Link Solutions

"Sue helped me stand back and reflect and focus on what was important to me so that I could formulate actions for the future." Jan Broadbent, Kingston University

Supervision:

"Sue is very focused and constantly strives to get the best outcome for her supervisee. This is clearly evidenced in her supervision as she encourages me to reflect on my coaching with total honesty, raising my awareness and encouraging me to implement change as required. My belief is that she operates with total integrity, utilising a broad spectrum of skills from leadership, behavioural and psychological models." Annie Richardson, Quantum Corporate Coaching

Training:

"I know the other candidates were, like me, very impressed with your course and its delivery. I thought it well structured and delivered at the right pace. It also allowed for some very meaningful discussion between the candidates." Phil Hopkins, Delegate on Leadership Academy programme

"Thank you for facilitating what I thought was a very useful and productive day. The feedback forms are very positive and demonstrate that others too found it useful and stimulating." Roger Poole, Director, Industry, Education and Skills, Government Office

"Sue’s workshop, for me, was extremely useful to understand how real women leaders manage change. Their belief system and their attitudes both mentally and psychological. The insight was invaluable." Delegate at Fusion Conference

Facilitation:

"Thank you so much for your work in facilitating our discussions. It was amazing to us all that we actually came out of our deliberations with an action plan and a named person to do most of the work! It was a good meeting and I congratulate you on the way you handled a very difficult group!" Hilary Sillars, Chair Six O Group

"As a facilitator, Sue she brings the right level of control without restricting interaction and guides/steers the group in what appears to be an effortless manner. She is always focused and as a result all attendees walk away from meetings having surpassed what they hoped to achieve." Deb Leary OBE, Founder and CEO Forensic Pathways
