Peter began his working life as an accelerated graduate management trainee, with a comprehensive management development programme leading to a career as a derivatives trader. Leaving finance, he then bought and ran his own SME, buying and selling two companies along the way before being invited to offer Career Coaching to newly unemployed professionals and executives in the aftermath of the Lehman’s collapse. Coaching over 400 professionals in this way, Pete subsequently focused on Executive Coaching as his profession in 2009, quickly establishing a strong reputation as a creative and insightful thinker.
Peter focuses on Leadership and Change Management Coaching, including Performance & People Management. Pete has an MA in Physics from Oxford University and a PG Cert in Coaching.
Case StudiesPeter worked as a Coach & Mentor to a local Digital Marketing Agency business which was experiencing difficulties. Over the three years that Peter has worked with them, turnover has grown by 59.9%, profitability by 156.5% and margins have improved from 19.1% to 30.7%. This growth (and increase in profitability) in fact hides an initial period of consolidation where they decided to rationalise the business, reducing headcount and moving to smaller premises. They reviewed the profitability of the different areas of the business, cutting out a tranche of unprofitable work and re-pricing much of the rest.
Peter has worked with a specialist Publishing Company (Turnover £10M, 150 employees) for just under two years, during which trading conditions have remained difficult. The company is VC backed and under considerable pressure to perform and to prepare for sale. Accordingly the organisation has been rationalised, closing loss making operations in Europe and selling its US arm. At the same time the UK operation has undergone an extensive restructuring with job losses, creating a far more commercially focussed organisation. Peter has worked with the MD individually and as a team coach with a newly created Senior Management Team of 10. Together they scoped out the responsibilities of both the Senior Management team and each department. Morale was at a low point and they have been able restore a sense of purpose and energy to the Senior Management Team.
