The majority of Martin’s work is at Senior Executive and Board level and recently coached and facilitated the Executive team in a substantial construction company; included the establishing of a new communications framework and operational charter between them. As well as being an Executive Coach and coaching Psychologist, Martin has been the General Manager of International hotels, chaired and facilitated board level projects, both commercially and as a Director of a Training & Enterprise Council, and consulted on change-management within the education, private and public sectors. He is a highly experienced coach having worked with senior members of financial & academic institutions, mining & oil exploration, construction, health-care, retail and information technology sectors to name but a few.
His unique background combines extensive personal business leadership with experience of pragmatic behavioural change and he combines the tools of Executive Coaching with an in-depth understanding of human capability, and so helps clients create lasting, powerful and often life changing results. He delivers a deep message with a light touch; being coached by him is both challenging and a fun experience.
While primarily a personal coach, Martin is also a highly skilled facilitator of group coaching and coach training, an experienced change management consultant having headed up a number of major change programmes and an inspirational conference & seminar platform presenter.
Martin’s unique combination of skills, experience and business credibility result in him being in high demand from successful business people. He is also regularly asked to work within the media; he is the ‘resident’ coach & business psychologist on BBC local radio and regularly provides expert contributions to various television programmes. He has been employed and appeared on a number of television programmes for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and the Discovery Channel. He was the series psychologist & coach with Jack Osbourne on Adrenaline Junkie (working on location in the Borneo Jungle and New Zealand), and was the on-screen coach for a daily reality show the ‘Fit-Farm’ by the makers of ‘Big Brother’.
Since 1997 Martin has delivered thousands of hours of client interventions. He is an NLP Master Practitioner, has a raft of training, coaching and business qualifications as well as an honours degree in Psychology. He is currently completing his PhD in coaching and has recently released his latest book ‘Brilliant Coaching Conversations’ on Amazon. He is a full member of the British Psychological Society and is also an accredited trainer of coaches with the Institute of Leadership and Management. He is married to Rachel and lives in Warwickshire with the last of their four children to flee the nest.
Martin worked with the regional director of an international high street brand. The goal of the executive coaching assignment was to support the client in developing robustness and capability to handle multiple challenges simultaneously. The 6 month assignment included stakeholder feed-forward and resulted in the achievement of the coaching goals. Shortly after the assignment ended the client was promoted to an even more senior role.
Martin worked with one of the Senior Executives of a global Construction company who needed to step-up into a board level role. The goal of the coaching was to prepare this individual to step up by adopting an improved leadership style, enhanced communication approaches and the development of appropriate gravitas. By the end of the 6- month coaching programme the client was dealing effectively and confidently with Board colleagues, managing the increased workload effectively and embracing new challenges.
Martin worked with a brewery and pub chain who wanted to change attitudes, overcome internal communication issues and turnaround a decline in sales. He worked directly with the regional retail managers to equip them with coaching skills as well as delivering group coaching with the sales team. He also acted a Coach for their internal team of coaches. As a result of his intervention sales improved and communications with the landlords / tenants were better.
