The large team of specialist legal experts and their support staff within an LA were required to increase their effectiveness within the context of increasing standards and decreasing resources.
One-to-one consultations with each senior member of the legal team were then followed by a facilitated collaborative session over two days. Each specialist was encouraged to expend his or her point of view from its previous narrow focus and engage with other members of the team in real-life problem solving exercises.
A more collaborative approach to on-going problem solving was developed as was the establishment of a new and agreed set of cultural ‘norms’ within the legal department. The net result was an improvement in perceived and actual effectiveness from their user groups.
