World Class Executive Coaching

Passionate about the human side of the change equation throughout his whole career, it was Dominic’s interests in behaviour and communication that have seen him working with the Leadership teams of our clients to help them articulate the strategic imperatives for their coaching strategy, and then helping to align coaching programmes to deliver against these imperatives.

As a Business and Executive Coach too, Dominic saw early how the powerful combination of Executive Coaching and the adoption of coaching skills as a preferred 'style' within the business supported by organisational reinforcement, can lead to swift and significant step changes within a client company’s performance. This is the essence of Notion’s tag line ‘Change Momentum’, and the philosophy that underpins all of the work that we do with our clients.


Dominic works with senior leadership teams (including C-Suite and PLC Boards) to help them translate the principles of advanced communication skills, gravitas, collaboration and coaching into their organisations and align this with the strategy for the business, to drive commercial performance results.

Dominic’s work has been highly focused on International businesses, from close quarter work with the Croatian Government, through to multi-national FMCG businesses. Dominic understands how to coach and develop leaders from just about every corner of the earth (having trained and facilitated senior leadership teams in UK, Germany, Russia, Scandinavia, Korea, USA, Argentina and most places in-between) to improve their commercial performance and communication skills, and to operate at the highest levels within their global businesses.

Dominic also presents our ‘Accelerating Change’ and ‘Leader as Coach’ programmes to Board and Senior Leadership Teams and supports them with board coaching, facilitation and targeted training workshops, ranging from 'Working Together Effectively' through to 'Developing Our Business Strategy'. He is a guest lecturer for the MBA class at IMD (Lausanne) in advanced communication skills and an accredited ILM instructor (through to ILM7 certification) for academic coaching qualifications.

Dominic is a thought leader in the field of Coaching and Communications and has co-developed several leading edge models including a highly commercial Operational Coaching model. He is also the co-writer and presenter of ‘Business Success Strategies’. Dominic holds a BSc. in Ergonomics and an MBA from IMD. He is married with three children, is an Apple fanboy, whisky aficionado and gastronome.


Case Studies

Dominic was invited to work with the PLC Board of a major player in the Leisure & Entertainment sector to determine with them an approach to changing their prevailing ‘Command & Control’ culture. By developing a new style to the way that they engaged with the Operating Board, they signalled their intention to bring on the next tier thereby improving their succession planning. The Operating Board in turn, utilised the techniques that they had learned to change the way in which they managed the teams beneath them and began seeing commercial benefits in terms of the performance of retail units in the group, reduced staff turnover and an improvement in organisational morale.

Dominic worked with a National Transportation Company to help them adopt more of a performance culture across the business. A new CEO had introduced KPIs up and down the business, and encouraging managers to consider ‘how’ they might deliver against these was proving challenging. One of the missing skills was identified as being able to ‘ask the right questions’ (of themselves and others), and consequently the level of organisational innovation was low. By structuring a properly cascaded programme that introduced Notion’s Operational Coaching Model to key managers across the business, the transformation towards more of a performance culture was given a new lease of life, as managers now understood how to engage.

Dominic was invited to design a communications programme for Reckitt Benckiser to help their Senior Managers improve the quality of their presentations across the company. Having become buried in their own data, and with a poor ability to distil and communicate concise messages, meetings and presentations were largely recognised as ineffective. Having designed a one-day programme to address these issues, Dominic has since taken 550 senior managers through the tools developed and coached them in small groups in applying the tools presented to their own presentations and communications. The results have been that decisions are made more swiftly now that business cases are shorter, having been pared down to include only logically reasoned arguments and pertinent data.

Dominic recently worked with the leadership team of a major plc to help them consider the outcomes that they wanted from implementing a coaching culture across their organisation. Introducing more of a ‘coaching style of leadership’ was determined to be the key to further strengthening management capability and thereby succession planning, and also critical for improving employee engagement at every level. This initial work then lead on to encompass the next tier of senior management to ensure that, as a whole management team, they modelled an aligned set of behaviours to their organisation.  ‘Leading from the top’ in this way became an important symbol of change to everyone in the business and underlined the importance of the work that Notion was doing elsewhere to help build a sustainable, internal capability to drive the adoption of new behaviours and the cultural change required more widely throughout the organisation.
