What's your Business's USP?

What makes you stand out from your competition?

I am not looking for excuses here: "we operate in a commodity market" doesn't wash with me!

EVERY business can find it's Unique Selling Point. If you don't, you're limiting your success and putting your business at risk.

The customer needs to know why they should come to you Vs your competitors and if you can't answer this question then be sure your competition can.

Even more importantly, whenever there is a downturn in the economy it is the USP that will help you ride it.

For example if your USP is to offer outstanding customer service in a commodity market and you do this EVERY time a customer interacts with you, then you are likely to maintain a greater percentage of the business when the overall market downturns.

If your USP is to be never knowingly undersold then even when you are more expensive the customer is confident that you will honour the best price in the market - so they will continue to shop with you.

  1. Write down your USP NOW.
  2. Check that it offers the Customer/Client a real benefit - if not change it!
  3. Make sure it becomes a key part of all your marketing, both internally and externally.

Have a great and action packed day!

Kind regards
